Travel Tour Overview
An extraordinary mountain bike adventure into the heart of wild, authentic Abruzzo, designed for riders who love blending historical heritage with high-altitude mountain biking. The tour starts along the fascinating disused railway line connecting L'Aquila to Capitignano, pedaling past gentle embankments and historic train stations in the Upper Aterno Valley, before climbing toward the high plateau and shimmering waters of Lake Campotosto. Over the following days, the itinerary transforms into an immersive, high-elevation Enduro/All-Mountain experience: from the boundless pastures of Santo Stefano di Sessanio and the iconic towers of Rocca Calascio to the otherworldly landscapes of the Valianara Canyon (Scoppaturo) and Campo Imperatore. The journey culminates with a technical crossing of Vado di Corno, followed by a long, adrenaline-fueled singletrack descent that brings riders right back to L'Aquila.
