Malga Ciapela is a small village at the foot of the Marmolada (3342 m), the highest peak in the Dolomites. From the village, you can reach the summit directly using the three sections of the cable car, which takes you up to 3269 meters at Punta Rocca. The slopes offer panoramic views, and skiing on a glacier in winter certainly provides an exhilarating experience. From there, the historic La Bellunese slope descends to the village after 12 kilometers of excitement. Some have called it the most beautiful in the entire Alpine arc. For those who prefer not to venture onto the glacier or want to vary their skiing, you can cross the 2300 meters of the Passo Padon and descend towards Arabba. From there, you can access the long Sellaronda circuit. Until a few years ago, it was also possible to practice summer skiing on the Marmolada. Although current conditions no longer permit it, the high altitude and snow quality make the area particularly suitable for alpine skiing at the beginning and end of the season. Malga Ciapela offers many off-piste routes on the open glacier, with descents of up to 1600 meters of vertical drop. It caters to both beginners and experts with the assistance of a mountain guide and is particularly ideal for off-piste snowboard enthusiasts. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts have a 7.5 km track available, and there are also routes for snowshoeing through the woods of the Val Pettorina. Malga Ciapela is one of the many stops on the Great War Ski Tour.
Skiing Amidst the Nature and History of the Dolomites - A UNESCO World Heritage Site. The centerpiece of this approximately 80 km ski tour is the Col di Lana, the mountain that symbolizes the Great War. Along the route, you'll find traces of World War I everywhere: artifacts, trenches carved into the rock, patrol paths, and fortifications. In Alta Badia, the tour begins in Corvara and continues through the Campolongo Pass to Arabba. From Arabba and Porta Vescovo, you reach Malga Ciapela, located at the foot of the Marmolada. At this point, those who wish can make a detour to the Marmolada Glacier (3,342 m). The Marmolada ski lifts are included in the Dolomiti Superski pass. From there, you can take a ski bus to Alleghe and explore the Civetta ski area's slopes. From Pescul in the Civetta area, you reach the Fedare Refuge (Passo Giau). From the Fedare slopes, you can take the Croda Negra chairlift to Forcella Croda Negra and then descend the north side of Forcella Negra via the new Averau-Troi ski trail to Col Gallina and reach Passo Falzarego. From Passo Falzarego, continue towards Alta Badia with the Lagazuoi ski tour. The entire tour takes about 7 to 8 hours, so it's advisable to start very early in the morning to complete the circuit before the ski lifts close. Don't miss: One of the most spectacular descents on this tour is the run from the top of Lagazuoi down to Armentarola in Alta Badia, the longest slope in the Dolomites.
The Arabba-Marmolada ski area, with 23 ski lifts and 63 km of slopes, offers a wide variety of runs for both beginners and advanced skiers, and is one of the most sought-after resorts in the Dolomiti Superski network. Due to its altitude ranging from 1,602 to about 2,500 meters, the ski area is known for its abundant snowfall. Located at the foot of the so-called "Queen of the Dolomites," the Arabba-Marmolada ski pass is a true paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. A highlight of the ski area is the spectacular "Bellunese" run, which stretches 12 km from 3,269 meters above sea level and winds down various slopes to Malga Ciapela. With the expansion of the "Dolomiti Superski" network, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy one of the largest ski areas in the world, featuring 1,200 km of slopes, 450 ski lifts, and 30 snowparks. On the famous "Sellaronda," you can traverse four Dolomite passes over 40 km without ever having to unclip your skis. The breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain landscape are guaranteed! Beginners can also enjoy 33 kilometers of blue runs, while the gentler slopes are perfect for skiers and snowboarders. In the dedicated area of the ski school, the youngest can get accustomed to skiing in a safe environment. For freestyle enthusiasts, the Arabba Superpark offers numerous features such as tables, kickers, rails, and boxes. Additionally, a funslope provides extreme fun on the slopes.
After breakfast, departures to respective destinations. End of services.
