Participants will meet with the guide and board the flight from Italy to Uganda. Meals will be served on board, and overnight accommodation will be provided during the flight, in preparation for arrival and the start of the journey.
Arrival at Entebbe Airport and meeting with our local guide, who will accompany us to the hotel for check-in and room allocation. Situated on a peninsula in Lake Victoria, Entebbe was once the seat of the Ugandan government and now offers numerous attractions for visitors. With its tree-lined streets, it is a charming town and an excellent starting point to explore the surrounding natural beauties. Hotel check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will immediately immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of Uganda, starting with an excursion to the Mabamba Wetlands, located on the shores of Lake Victoria. We will navigate a canoe along the calm waters of the lagoon, searching for numerous bird species. With some luck, we will have the opportunity to spot the famous Shoebill Stork, named for its distinct shoe-like bill. This papyrus swamp, protected by local communities, is one of the last remaining in Uganda, with a maze of channels and lagoons that host several pairs of Shoebills. This charismatic bird is one of the most sought-after and photographed in Africa, but the area offers many other wildlife surprises. We will return to Entebbe for lunch. In the afternoon, we will explore the city, including a visit to the famous botanical gardens, which serve as a perfect introduction to Ugandan safaris. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will begin our adventure in Uganda, heading northwest toward the city of Masindi and the Murchison Falls Conservation Area, the largest in Uganda. This park offers spectacular landscapes of savannah, acacia trees in the north, and tropical forests in the south. Our first wildlife experience will be an exciting trek in the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a conservation project that has reintroduced white rhinos to Uganda. This protected area aims to facilitate the future reintroduction of rhinos into the country's national parks. We will have the unique opportunity to walk alongside these majestic mammals in their natural environment. Lunch included. After the sanctuary experience, we will head to Murchison Falls National Park. Located at the northern tip of the Albertine Rift Valley, the park is divided in two by the Victoria Nile. The river gives birth to the spectacular Murchison Falls, which form the heart of the park, with rapids extending over 80 km. This stretch of river is one of the most stunning in Uganda, offering some of the best wildlife sightings. In the evening, we will arrive at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Wake up at dawn and enjoy breakfast, after which we will embark on a safari to spot lions, giraffes, elephants, buffalo, numerous antelope species, and colorful birds that inhabit the park. We will cross the Nile Delta, reaching Lake Albert while immersing ourselves in spectacular savannah landscapes. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, we will embark on an unforgettable boat excursion on the Nile, taking us almost to the base of the spectacular falls. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to closely observe hippopotamuses, crocodiles, elephants, antelopes, and many bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Early in the morning, we will depart for the transfer to the Crater Lakes Area. Although the journey is long, it will offer us enchanting views and fascinating places to explore. We will cross the Albertine Rift Valley and pass through the tea plantations near Fort Portal. We will reach the lodge in time for lunch, followed by some rest before embarking on our afternoon excursion. In the afternoon, an exciting hike awaits us to the "Top of the World," a guided walk that will take us to this magical spot. From here, we will enjoy a spectacular view, and on clear days, we will be able to see the Rwenzori mountain ranges and the surrounding volcanic lakes. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will head to Kibale Forest for one of the most exciting experiences of our trip: chimpanzee trekking. Kibale National Park, a vast rainforest home to over 1,500 chimpanzees, will give us the opportunity to observe these incredible primates in their natural habitat. We’ll have the chance to get close to them and witness the chimpanzees engaged in their daily activities, such as grooming, social interactions, caring for the young, and sharing food. The forest is also home to nine different species of monkeys, including red colobus, red-tailed monkeys, and bush babies. After the trek, we will return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, we will embark on another nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland, an area rich in biodiversity. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will begin a day of exploration in the volcanic area with a hike to discover the local wildlife. During the walk, we will have the opportunity to observe various species of monkeys, butterflies, and birds, including the Blue Turaco, Greenbul, Long-tailed Cuckoo, Black Bee-eater, and many more. After the hike, we will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the afternoon, we will embark on a scenic cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward to Lake George. During the boat ride, we will have the chance to admire numerous hippos, Nile crocodiles, buffalo, elephants drinking from the river, antelopes, and a variety of birds, including rare species such as the Fish Eagle. The cruise will end at the point where the channel flows into Lake Edward, offering an unforgettable display of the wildlife surrounding these waterways. After the experience, we will return to our lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will spend the entire day immersed in the beauty of Queen Elizabeth National Park, a park that is home to an extraordinary variety of wildlife. With over 95 species of mammals, we will have the opportunity to spot lions, elephants, leopards, hyenas, buffalo, Uganda kobs (impalas), and various species of primates such as chimpanzees, blue colobus, red, white, black colobus, and baboons. The park is also famous for its incredible bird diversity, with about 600 species, one of the highest concentrations in Africa, and for the pink flamingo flocks that inhabit the volcanic Katwe lake. In the afternoon, we will head towards the Ishasha sector, a part of the park known for its legendary "tree climbing lions," which are capable of climbing trees. After the transfer, we will arrive at the lodge for some relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will start our adventure with an exciting game drive in the Ishasha Sector, famous for the legendary "tree climbing lions," lions that climb trees during the hottest hours of the day. With a bit of luck, we will have the opportunity to see them resting on branches just a few meters above the ground. Following this, we will head towards the majestic Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, renowned for its breathtaking views and incredible biodiversity, where we will embark on the gorilla trekking the following day. In the afternoon, weather permitting, we will take a walk around the surrounding village. The transfer to Bwindi will take about 3 hours. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the most biodiverse areas in the world, home to 350 species of birds, 200 species of butterflies, and 324 varieties of trees, 14 of which are unique to the area. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its untouched nature is perfect for birdwatching enthusiasts. We will arrive at the lodge in the afternoon to relax, followed by dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, we will head to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest headquarters for a briefing with the rangers. Following the briefing, we will embark on the famous trekking adventure to search for mountain gorillas, an unforgettable experience in the heart of the tropical rainforest. Each participant will be assigned to a group and accompanied by an expert guide to track one of the gorilla families. The time required to find the gorillas can vary between 2 and 8 hours, making each encounter with these magnificent animals a unique and unpredictable experience. Once the family is located, we will have an hour to observe them closely as they feed, play, and interact with each other, offering a rare opportunity to witness their daily life. In the afternoon, we will head south to Lake Bunyonyi, a stunning lake located at an altitude of 1,840 meters, known for its breathtaking views and often referred to as the "Switzerland of Africa." We will spend the night here, enjoying the serenity of the lake and the surrounding natural beauty. Arrival at the lodge, check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will cross the lake by motorized canoe, enjoying breathtaking views and observing numerous birds in flight. This peaceful and scenic journey will mark the beginning of our next adventure. We will then continue to Lake Mburo National Park, arriving in time for lunch at the lodge.
