08:45 - San Vito-Lanciano Station: The journey begins aboard the special Abruzzo Tourism Express train. The route follows the new section of the Adriatic Railway, passing through scenic landscapes until reaching Pescara Centrale station. From Pescara, the train continues along the Pescara-Rome Railway, crossing the Val Pescara with its unique natural scenery. The journey winds through the Gole di Popoli and the Conca Peligna, offering charming views of the Morrone and Maiella mountains.
10:30 - Arrival in Sulmona: The train makes a technical stop. Afterward, it departs, reversing direction and taking the direct route to L’Aquila. It passes through the Gole di San Venanzio and the Valle dell’Aterno, immersed in the Sirente-Velino Regional Park, one of the most captivating Apennine landscapes, with forests, tunnels, rocks, viaducts, and picturesque villages overlooking the valley.
11:30 - Arrival in L’Aquila: L’Aquila, the Italian Capital of Culture 2026. From the station, a comfortable shuttle service will take you to the historic center of the city, arriving at the Villa Comunale, the vibrant heart of the Christmas festivities and entrance to the historic center. During the Christmas season, L’Aquila transforms into a magical place, with Christmas markets, festive lights, crafts, and delicious local products. The historic center also hosts the Fiera della Magia on December 21 and 22, with magical-themed markets, Harry Potter-inspired stalls, games, and shows for all ages. Additionally, on January 5th and 6th, the traditional Epiphany Fair will take place, featuring markets, local products, roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, and plenty of entertainment to celebrate the arrival of the Befana.
Starting at 17:15, the shuttle service will take you back to the station for the return journey.
18:00 - Departure from L’Aquila: The special train departs from L’Aquila, ready to take you on the return journey, retracing the region's enchanting landscapes.
20:45 - Return to San Vito-Lanciano: Final arrival at San Vito-Lanciano, where your special journey aboard the Abruzzo Tourism Express ends.
