Trip Itinerary

More information regarding the time and meeting point for the first/last day will be provided after the booking.

Arrival in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, a city that has always been at the center of the country's economy, culture, and art. Today, Kathmandu presents itself as a lively city, where the influences of Hinduism and Buddhism are evident in every corner, from the architecture to daily rituals. We begin our journey with a visit to Swayambhunath, one of the city's most iconic sites, also known as the "Monkey Temple." This majestic stupa, perched on a hill, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley. The Buddha's eyes painted on the four sides of the stupa seem to watch over the city, while the prayer wheels, spinning endlessly, fill the air with blessings. After this spiritual visit, we continue our tour with a walk through the historic heart of Kathmandu, exploring the architectural wonders and ancient temples of the city. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, the second day is dedicated to the discovery of Durbar Square, one of the most historic squares in Kathmandu, where kings were once crowned. This square, an extraordinary example of architectural beauty, is surrounded by temples and palaces that tell the ancient history of the city. We continue our tour with a visit to Patan, an ancient city-state that is home to numerous temples and buildings of exceptional architectural refinement. Patan is a true open-air museum that captivates with its beauty. After the visits, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Paro, the main entry point to Bhutan. During the flight, we will be treated to a landscape with rocky ridges and snow-capped peaks rising into the sky, and the valley below appearing nestled between the mountains. After about an hour and a half, we will arrive in Paro. Upon landing, we will meet the local guide and head to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Although the city has seen some development in recent years, Thimphu has managed to retain its traditional character, which blends harmoniously with modernity. Particularly on weekends, a lively market unfolds along the city's streets. In this market, tradition meets innovation: we will see farmers from nearby valleys bringing fresh produce, while the vendors, surrounded by the vibrant colors of their goods, blend their work with moments of daily life. The city tour continues with a visit to the National Library, which houses an extensive collection of Buddhist texts, many of which date back centuries and are printed on blocks. If we’re lucky, we may also witness an archery competition, a sport that symbolizes Bhutanese culture. At the end of the day, check-in at the hotel with full board and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we depart towards Gangtey, heading east into the western region of Bhutan. Our first stop is the Dochu La Pass, located at 3,140 meters. On a clear day, we can enjoy a panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks. In 2005, 108 small temples (chortens) were built to commemorate the victims of an accident that occurred at the top of the pass. The hill overlooking the temples is covered with a dense forest of rhododendrons, one of the most common species in Bhutan. The country is home to 46 varieties of rhododendrons, at least 36 of which bloom in this area, especially in April. Continuing on, we descend into the Phobjikha Valley, a U-shaped glacial valley. This valley is also known as Gangtey Valley, due to the presence of the Gangtey Monastery, which dominates the entire area. The landscape changes dramatically: the trees give way to dwarf bamboo as we approach the village of Gangtey. The valley is also known for hosting the rare black-necked cranes, an endangered species that chooses this place as its winter residence. Typically, in late March, the cranes migrate to Tibet, but due to ongoing climate changes, their departure is often delayed. At the dedicated information center, visitors can learn more about the cranes and, in some cases, meet Karma, a crane that has been rehabilitated and now lives in the valley. We then arrive in Gangtey and visit the majestic Gangtey Goempa Monastery, which overlooks the entire valley. Full board and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we depart towards Central Bhutan, a region characterized by fertile valleys, mountains, and dense forests. The climate in this area is particularly pleasant, especially in spring, when the mountain passes are colored by the blooming of rhododendrons. It is believed that Central Bhutan was the first inhabited region of the country, as evidenced by prehistoric settlements in the Ura Valley. During our journey, we approach the town of Trongsa, located in the heart of Bhutan, where we can enjoy a spectacular view of the Trongsa Dzong. This imposing fortress stands at 2,120 meters above the valley, which is traversed by a narrow gorge through which the Chu River flows from the Himalayan peaks. Its strategic location gave Trongsa immense power over this part of the country, as it was located along the main trade routes running from east to west. Consequently, the governor of Trongsa had absolute control over both the trade routes and taxes. Full board and overnight stay at the hotel.

After leaving Trongsa, we continue our journey towards Bumthang, crossing the Yotong La Pass at 3,350 meters. Bumthang is an area made up of four valleys: Chumey, Choekhor, Tang, and Ura, with altitudes ranging from 2,600 to 4,000 meters. This region is rich in spirituality, with numerous hermitages, temples, and Buddhist monasteries. Bumthang, like Central Bhutan, is less visited compared to Western Bhutan, but it represents the cultural heart of the country. Throughout history, the temples and fortresses of Bumthang have played a key role in the development of Bhutan and the spread of Buddhism in the region. Our base for the night will be the town of Jakar, from where we will set off to explore the cultural heart of Bhutan, immersed in an extraordinary natural landscape. Full board and overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, we depart towards Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan, which held this status for over 300 years until 1955. We leave the Bumthang valleys to return to Western Bhutan, where the fertile Punakha Valley is located, at the confluence of two rivers. This region is famous for its rich agriculture, with crops of oranges, bananas, and abundant rice. Dominating the valley stands the spectacular Punakha Dzong, the most impressive building in all of Bhutan. In spring, the blooming jacaranda trees add a unique touch of beauty to its whitewashed walls, creating a charming landscape. Near the fortress, we also find Bhutan's longest suspension bridge, which crosses the Pho Chhu River, also known as the "Father River." Full board and overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, before leaving the Punakha Valley, we will visit Chimi Lhakhang Temple, which can be reached by a 45-minute walk. This temple is considered a symbol of fertility and attracts many couples who visit to receive a blessing. Afterward, we head towards Paro, with a journey lasting about 4 and a half hours. Upon our arrival, Paro is in full swing as the Paro Tsechu, the most famous and attended festival in all of Bhutan, is taking place. During this event, Bhutanese culture is vibrantly expressed through a series of ritual dances performed by masked dancers dressed in elaborate traditional costumes. The festival is held at Rinpung Dzong, one of the most imposing and well-known fortresses in Bhutan, visible from the entire valley due to its grandeur. The festive atmosphere offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in Bhutanese tradition. A visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most fascinating temples in the country, is also included. Full board and overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.

Today, in Paro, we are in for an unforgettable experience with an excursion to the Taktsang Monastery, also known as the "Tiger's Nest." This monastery is the most famous in Bhutan and is incredibly scenic. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche arrived at this site flying on a tiger to defeat a demon. The monastery is perched on a cliff overlooking the Paro Valley, offering spectacular views and a unique spiritual experience. The hike to the monastery is one of the most picturesque activities in Bhutan, providing unforgettable emotions to all who take part. Full board and overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.

The last day in Paro will be dedicated to the freedom to explore at your own pace. You can stroll through the picturesque town center, shop at local markets, or visit other places of interest of your choice, such as temples or scenic viewpoints. This free time will allow you to fully enjoy the unique atmosphere of Paro. Full board and overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and check-in. The day will be dedicated to a visit to Bhaktapur and the celebration of Bisket Jatra, the Nepalese New Year, which this year falls on April 13. The Nepalese New Year, or Navavarsha, is a deeply religious holiday, celebrated with great respect and devotion. After experiencing the festive atmosphere, the evening will continue with a visit to Pashupatinath, an important Hindu sacred site dedicated to Lord Shiva. Here, devotees and pilgrims gather on the banks of the Bagmati River to participate in the evening prayers (puja) and make offerings. Dinner at the hotel and overnight stay.

After breakfast at the hotel, the day will be dedicated to preparations for your return. You will have some free time for any last-minute explorations or shopping. Later, you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight. This will mark the conclusion of your journey, leaving you with memories of an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Himalayas. End of services.
