The meeting point is at 6:30 PM in the small hamlet of Decontra, Caramanico Terme, where the trail begins. From here, the path winds through a captivating landscape of woods, valleys, and panoramic viewpoints offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The first stop is the Hermitage of San Bartolomeo in Legio, an extraordinary place of worship carved into the rock, rich in history and spirituality. Here, visitors can explore the hermitage, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, and discover the unique rock-cut architecture that characterizes this hidden corner of the Maiella. The route then continues through Valle Giumentina, an area of rare beauty known for its pastures, biodiversity, and seasonal blooms. Along the way, you can admire the sunset painting the sky above the peaks of the Maiella, creating a truly magical moment. Upon returning to De Contra, the evening concludes with an engaging stargazing session through a telescope, where you can observe stars, constellations, and planets under one of the clearest and most pristine skies in Abruzzo. This unique experience, suitable for everyone, combines hiking, culture, and sky-watching in an exceptional natural setting.
