The tour begins at Hotel Dory in Riccione, where we will meet for the transfer by minibus to Cagli. Once we arrive, we will immerse ourselves in the heart of the Apennines, exploring the picturesque village of Cagli, rich in history and tradition. After a stroll through the town's alleys, we will head out by bike towards Fonte Avellana, an ancient monastery located at the foot of Mount Catria. Here, in a peaceful retreat surrounded by the green Umbrian forests, we will have the opportunity to visit the abbey and enjoy the tranquility of this sacred place. During the ride, we will take a break for a packed lunch provided by Dory, to recharge our energy before continuing our pedal journey. Our adventure continues with a descent that will take us to Gubbio, famous for its architectural wonders and long history. Once we reach Gubbio, we will check into the hotel and take a guided tour of the city, a true medieval gem. The evening will end with a traditional Umbrian dinner, where we can savor the local dishes. Overnight at the hotel.
After a hearty and energizing breakfast, our tour continues from Gubbio to Assisi, following a hilly route that will offer a more relaxed experience for some, while more experienced cyclists can take on a slightly more challenging path. We will cycle through the Umbrian landscapes until we reach Assisi, the city of Saint Francis. Once we arrive, we will take a bike ride through the historic center of the city, exploring its charming streets and points of interest. Afterward, we will stop for lunch, which will be at the participants' expense at a restaurant recommended by the guides, where we can enjoy the local dishes. In the afternoon, we will check in at the hotel in Santa Maria degli Angeli. From here, we will have free time to explore the city and visit its historical, artistic, and spiritual sites. The evening will end with a dinner at a pizzeria, where we can savor typical local cuisine in a convivial atmosphere. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, we start the day with an exciting ride from Assisi to Spoleto. The route will take us up Monte Subasio, famous for its spectacular panoramic views of the valley below, offering a challenge that will reward every effort with unique landscapes. The following descent will lead us to the historic city of Spoleto. Upon arrival in Spoleto, we’ll embark on a bike tour to discover the city’s wonders, including the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the Albornoz Fortress. Spoleto, with its Roman roots and rich historical heritage, is also famous for the Festival dei Due Mondi, which annually brings a mix of art and culture to the city. After the bike tour, we will stop at a restaurant recommended by our guides for a lunch featuring traditional Umbrian dishes. In the afternoon, we will have free time to further explore the city or discover other charming corners. The day will end with dinner at a traditional restaurant in Spoleto, where we can savor local cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, we prepare to conclude our journey. We will depart with our minibuses for Bologna airport, ready to leave the beautiful Umbrian lands with many unforgettable memories of the cycling tour.
