Isytravel by Bikelife: Abruzzo as a Leading Destination for Cycling Tourism and Slow Travel
A Fam Trip for specialized media, four itineraries exploring Abruzzo, Bianchi gravel bikes, historic villages, nature, culture and food and wine: Isytravel by Bikelife showcases an authentic and sustainable way of travelling.
Bringing together an authentic knowledge of the destinations with an innovative and sustainable approach to outdoor travel lies at the heart of the philosophy of Isytravel by Bikelife, an Abruzzo-based tour operator specializing in experiential tourism, slow travel and cycling tourism.
On 21 and 22 August 2026, Isytravel organized a Fam Trip for specialized cycling and outdoor media, with the aim of offering participants a first-hand experience of the Abruzzo region and the philosophy behind its travel experiences.
Among the participants were Roberto Feroli from CyclingLands and Andrea Manusia from Cycling Notes, who had the opportunity to experience some of the itineraries and activities proposed by Isytravel firsthand.
The Fam Trip took place in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park and in L’Aquila, Italian Capital of Culture 2026—two destinations that perfectly showcase the natural, cultural and scenic richness of Abruzzo.
Four itineraries to discover authentic Abruzzo
Guided by the Isytravel team and riding prestigious Bianchi gravel bikes, participants explored four different landscapes across Abruzzo.
The journey took the group through the vast Campo Imperatore plateau, the fascinating Terre delle Baronie and their historic villages, the cultural and historical heritage of L’Aquila, and the unspoiled nature of the Tirino Valley, along one of the clearest rivers in Europe.
Four different experiences, united by one philosophy: slowing down in order to truly discover a destination.
The itineraries were enriched by stays in historic residences, encounters with local communities and tastings of traditional cuisine, turning every stop into an opportunity to connect with the culture and people of the region.
For Isytravel, travelling does not simply mean reaching a destination. It means experiencing places, meeting their people, discovering their traditions and travelling with respect for the environment.
An experience also brought to television audiences
The Fam Trip was also an important communication opportunity for Abruzzo and for the tourism offering of Isytravel by Bikelife.
The initiative will be featured in a special produced by CyclingLands, a platform dedicated to television and digital communication in the cycling and cycling tourism sector.
The TV special will be distributed through a network of 60 television broadcasters across Italy, as well as through the project's digital and social media channels.
This represents an important opportunity to showcase Abruzzo, its landscapes and its outdoor experiences to an audience interested in cycling tourism, active travel and slow travel.
Cycling tourism at the heart of the Isytravel experience
Cycling tourism in Abruzzo is one of the key pillars of the Isytravel by Bikelife offering.
Its in-depth knowledge of the region makes it possible to create experiences connecting the Apennine mountains with hills, historic villages and the Trabocchi Coast, combining cycling with trekking, canoeing and rail travel.
Particular attention is given to bike-and-train intermodality, a solution that makes it possible to overcome some of the more challenging elevation gains and make itineraries accessible to different types of travellers.
The aim is to offer a form of active tourism that allows visitors to discover the region while reducing, wherever possible, the environmental impact of travel.
As highlighted by Claudio Di Dionisio, Technical Director and founder of Isytravel by Bikelife, the mission is to accompany guests in discovering destinations without leaving a trace, while at the same time enhancing local hospitality, traditions and food and wine heritage.
The new Isytravel 2027 Catalogue
The August Fam Trip is part of a wider development journey that is already looking towards the new tourism season.
In the Isytravel 2027 Catalogue, Abruzzo remains one of the central destinations of the offering, alongside new experiences in several Italian regions, including Emilia, Romagna, Marche, Molise, Umbria, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia.
The new offering further expands the opportunity to experience Italy through active tourism, culture, nature, food and wine.
Among the new additions is the Bianchi bike rental fleet, including top-of-the-range models such as the Bianchi Specialissima and Bianchi Oltre, designed for enthusiasts who want to explore destinations on two wheels.
The experience is further enhanced by Soste Golose, dedicated stops designed to introduce travellers to local flavours and food and wine excellence.
New experiences for more accessible outdoor activities
Among the innovations introduced in the new Isytravel offering are wearable exoskeletons for outdoor activities available for rental.
These devices are designed to provide support during activities such as cycling, trekking and water-based excursions, helping to reduce muscular effort during physical activity.
The aim is to broaden participation in outdoor experiences and enable an increasingly wide range of people to enjoy activities in nature.
This innovation reflects Isytravel's philosophy of combining technology, accessibility, sustainability and authenticity in the design of its travel experiences.
Abruzzo as a destination for slow travel
Mountains, national parks, historic villages, art cities, coastline, culinary traditions and a growing network of outdoor itineraries make Abruzzo a particularly attractive destination for those who want to enjoy an active holiday without giving up the slower pace of travel.
The Fam Trip held on 21 and 22 August gave Isytravel the opportunity to share this vision with specialized media professionals and showcase, through first-hand experience, a different way of discovering the region.
Cycling, walking, paddling, tasting local food and meeting local communities thus become part of one complete travel experience.
This is the vision of Isytravel by Bikelife: starting from Abruzzo and accompanying travellers in discovering Italy through authentic, sustainable experiences built around the beauty and character of each destination.
